Terms of Service

1. The service

D8A is a project-based learning platform for data careers. We provide guided projects, automated validation, and a public portfolio you can build and share. We may add, change, or remove features over time.

2. Accounts

• You must provide accurate information and keep your account secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
• You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction.
• One account per person. Do not share your login or transfer your account.

3. Subscriptions, payments & refunds

• Academy Pass — a recurring subscription (billed monthly) granting access to all paths. It renews automatically until cancelled.
• Path Pack — a one-time payment granting lifetime access to a single selected path.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. You can cancel a subscription at any time; access continues until the end of the current billing period.
• Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. Prices may change, with notice for active subscriptions.

4. Acceptable use

To keep the platform fair and useful for everyone, you agree not to:

• Submit work that is not your own, plagiarize, or pass off another user's repository or project as yours.
• Game validation, the leaderboard, or any ranking through fraud or automation.
• Share, resell, or redistribute paid course content outside the platform.
• Abuse, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or other users' accounts.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, including removing fraudulent submissions from validation and the leaderboard.

5. Your content & portfolio

You retain ownership of the content you create (your projects, write-ups, and portfolio). By publishing a public portfolio, you grant us a non-exclusive license to host and display that content as part of operating the service. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit any content and links (including GitHub repositories) you provide.

6. Our intellectual property

The course materials, exercises, starter code, designs, and the D8A brand are owned by us or our licensors and are provided for your personal learning use only. You may use starter code within your own projects, but you may not redistribute the course content itself.

7. No guarantee of outcomes

D8A helps you build skills and a portfolio, but we do not guarantee employment, interviews, or any specific career outcome. The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, D8A will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, or opportunities arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Termination

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms. Some provisions (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) survive termination.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, communicate through the site. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
